War Without Guns

War without Guns
  • Who are the main characters in this story?
Mr Sutton and Paoro
Briefly describe their personality.
Mr Sutton is a pakeha who is quite cunning to get land he is also quite greedy. Paoro is someone who always gets what they want and not need but he also cares about his tribe
  • What does this sentence mean?  Mr Sutton was very obliging about credit?
He looked like he cared what they were doing and was trying to look like he was caring but he was just being cunning.
  • How are italics used to make this story easier to understand
To show that the things that were said in a different font were actually what the people said. It was also because it was copied and pasted from the newspaper.
  • What was the theme or main message of this story?
That you need to not get what you want and to be fair. And there are lot’s of ways to solve a problem.
  • If you had been one of the characters in the story (except Paoro or Mr Sutton) how might you have acted to help resolve the problem.?
If I was the sheriff I would have just told Mr Sutton that this is his choice on what he does and if they don’t move then well too bad. Because that would have saved all of the time and the old man almost dying.
  • Do you think that all wars could be solved without guns? Justify your answer to this question.
I think that it can’t because it might all just depend on one answer if you took it to court. The judges choice could mean the total annihilation of new zealand if america wanted to take it over.
